These festivals are targeted at children in year 3/4 who would benefit from taking part in this event which aims to give them a positive experience of physical activity. It is aimed at those who have not had the opportunity to represent their school at previous activities/events.

 

Tennis Festival

The aim of the Year 3&4 Tennis Festival is to introduce new players to the game of tennis and to offer these young people a positive experience in which they will be inspired to continue playing the sport in the future. The event is for young people who are beginners or are new to the game of tennis it is not suitable for those who already play.

Schools are encouraged to target children who have not had the opportunity to participate in an activity where they represent the school previously this year. The activities are suitable for children who are beginners to Tennis and encourage children to work cooperatively as a group or pair. You may decide to identify children who need support with making friends, working with peers or communication. Or you may have children in your school who would benefit from taking part in the event to improve their self esteem or reduce stress.

Children will rotate around a carousel of up to 10 Tennis based activities which will be led and explained by young sports leaders. You are able to 1 or 2 groups of 8-10 children to the tennis festival.

This is a Witchford Sports Partnership event – to be eligible to attend you need to be subscribed to the partnership.

Golf Festival

Children taking part in the Golf festival will get an introduction to Golf in a fun, inclusive and enriching format. Specific activities delivered by sports leaders will teach the key skills for golf in a fun and safe environment. This is a great way to introduce an individual sport to the young people in your school, encouraging self reflection, setting of personal best targets and developing skills for life such as perseverance, honesty, focus and emotional control.

Children will rotate around a carousel of activities within their school groups. You are able to bring 1 or 2 groups of 8-10 children to the golf festival.

This is a Witchford Sports Partnership event – to be eligible to attend you need to be subscribed to the partnership.

This Cricket event is for pupils who are ready and prepared for competition and enjoy performing and competing against others. They provide the opportunity for competition in a positive and friendly environment where the focus is on enjoyment and supporting the wider development of young people as much as the outcome of the event itself.

Cricket Competition

Team/Squad Information

This competition is aimed at children in year 3/4 who would benefit from the opportunity to play in matches against other schools. The format is suitable for beginners to Cricket, but as they will be playing matches, we recommend that players have been shown and had some practise of the basics of Cricket before coming to the competition i.e. technique for batting

Teams consist of 8 players (maximum squad size 10). This is mixed competition, there are no specific gender ratio’s but please try to bring as equal numbers of boys and girls as is possible.

The format we will play is Dynamos Cricket – for the rules please open the link below and go to page 4. Dynamos is a countdown format with simple rules, limited equipment and a new digital app to help with scoring.

This is a Partnership competition therefore only open to those schools subscribed to the Witchford Sports Partnership.

This is a COMPETITIVE event for children in Year 3/4 who are ready for competition.  The aim of this event is to support individual development in sport.
