This is for children in year 5/6 who show outstanding commitment to clubs and/or PE lessons. This is suitable for children who will benefit from the additional challenge of competition against other schools. Children coming to this event should have prior experience of playing Tag Rugby and be confident in the rules.
n.b. please note that there will NOT be the option of a Tag Rugby Megafestival this year.
Resources will be shared for Tag Rugby activities which can be done in school with the children who are not coming to the event. Schools are invited to involve the whole class/year in the event by taking part in these activities on the same day.
As our first return to face to face competition the focus will be on Teamwork.
Before the event: Work together to learn the rules of the game and to practise your skills.
During the event: Encourage players to inspire one another, work for the team, offer support and positive feedback to team mates during match play and in between matches.
After the event: Identify and celebrate team strengths. Thank each other for trying their best and feel proud together for taking part in the event.
You are able to bring a squad of between 8-10 children in year 5/6.
6 in a team
We would like to encourage mixed teams and so schools are asked to ensure that they have a minimum of 2 of either gender on the pitch at any time.
Teams will play a round robin competition within a Pool of 4/5 teams.
Each pool will have a winning team and a runner up. There will not be any play off’s between pools.
Pools will be drawn at random and shared with schools prior to the day of competition.
There are 2 competitions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon with 10 spaces available at each competition.
Only 1 team per school
