These events target specific groups of young people who would benefit the most from having positive experiences of sport, physical activity and competition. The activities and outcomes are designed to reflect the young people’s needs and motivations.

This event is part of the School Games programme and therefore open to all schools to enter.

Teams/Squads: Schools are able to bring one team of up to 10 children.

Outcome: Social and/or emotional development.

  • Emotional Development – Sports competitions can improve young people’s self-esteem, reduces stress, supports their mental wellbeing and builds their resilience.
  • Social Development – Sports competitions can provide a sense of belonging, enabling young people to develop their teamwork, communication, empathy and respect for others.

Schools are encouraged to target children who have not had the opportunity to participate in an activity where they represent the school previously this year. The activities are suitable for children who are beginners to Tennis and encourage children to work cooperatively as a group or pair. You may decide to identify children who need support with making friends, working with peers or communication. Or you may have children in your school who would benefit from taking part in the event to improve their self esteem or reduce stress.

Children will rotate around a carousel of up to 10 Tennis based activities which will be led and explained by young sports leaders.

The closing date for entries to this event is Friday 20th May at 1pm.
