These events target specific groups of young people who would benefit the most from having positive experiences of sport, physical activity and competition. The activities and outcomes are designed to reflect the young people’s needs and motivations.
This event is aimed at two groups of children within year 5/6.
- Children showing some concerns over the transition to secondary school who may benefit from the opportunity to experience fun and friendly competition with peers and children from other schools.
- Children with low self confidence/esteem who have not had the opportunity to represent their school at previous events.
Within the Rounders event there will be two variations for you to choose from. Please make your selection when booking onto this event.
Format 1 – Traditional Rounders
This is most appropriate for children who have missed out on attending A team competitions this year but who would benefit from the opportunity to play non-competitive matches against other schools. Traditional Rounders rules will be played so children need to be familiar with these. Matches will be scored but just for fun – there will be no overall winners of the competition. Squad size = 9/10 players.
Format 2 – Alternative Rules Rounders (Load the Bases)
This format does not require children to have experience playing the games as all rules will be explained at the tournament. The rules of play make this version fully inclusive of all abilities making it most suited to those who need to develop self-esteem/confidence. Squad size = 12/14 players.
This is a Partnership competition therefore only open to those schools subscribed to the Witchford Sports Partnership.
You are able to bring one team to this event. To enter please select ‘1’ from the drop down list below in your preferred format
Deadline for entries is 1pm on Friday 17th June 2022
