CELEBRATION DANCE COMPETITION

Please find below information about our Celebration Dance Competition. There is some guidance about length of dance, suggested dance terms to include and a rough theme to work towards, but overall we would like you to find your own style and go for it! There really are not many rules, we just want you to have some fun creating your own masterpieces around the theme of celebration and friendship.

19th October – 30th November

Who for: Open to all children in KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4

Fun! We would like all children to enjoy this dance competition and have a positive experience, thinking about the School Games values of self-belief and passion. There will be an award for the group/school that best demonstrates these values.

This competition is for all children in your school and there are 4 entry categories, KS1, KS2, KS3 & KS4. Teams can consist of any size from 3-30 so small groups, large groups or whole class and can be boys, girls or mixed gender. Video entries can be sent into your School Games Organiser at any time during the Autumn term (deadline 30 Nov), maximum 3 entries per key stage per school. It may be an idea to have an intra school competition and select your entries from this.

PLEASE NOTE: When submitting videos of pupils please ensure that your school photo/video consent policy is followed at all times. No videos submitted as entries into this competition will be shared publicly. They will only be viewed by the competition organisers and judges.

Video entry:      1-4 minute in length, any dance style to any music but linking to the theme of friendship and celebration. There are 6 voluntary dance terms to include in your dance – gesture, turn, jump, footwork, stillness, slide. Take a look at the video to give you some ideas and why not try 3 of them?

Next round: The winners from each School Sports Partnership area will be invited to perform at the opening ceremony of a Partnership competition this year and will also be judged by the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough School Games Organising Committee with the chance to perform at the opening ceremony of the county School Games in June (subject to these events going ahead).

Take a look at the below videos for an introduction to the competition for the Cambridge Sports Partnership and further below for some ideas!
