Celebration Dance

What a fantastic response we had to our Celebration Dance competition! We were overwhelmed by the number and also the variety of performances we received. It was clear that a lot of thought and effort had gone into all the entries so well done to everyone who took part! Across the county we had 49 entries from 29 different schools, plus many more who took part without submitting a video. We hope you all enjoyed the experience of creating and performing your dances!

We really miss seeing all the children face to face at our events, so for us this was a special competition, as we got to see some of those wonderful smiling faces again! The theme of the competition was fun and friendship, it was clear that lots of you had a wonderful time creating and performing your pieces, and so many had included a range of different moves including the ones highlighted through our video – gesture, stillness, jump, turn, footwork and slide.

We would like to say a huge thank you as to all the staff who supported the children, and organised the filming, you have helped create a really fun and competitive partnership and county dance competition.

Onto the results, and all the entries were so different, it was really incredibly hard to choose our the winners. We had large groups, small groups, dances done in small spaces, some in large spaces, dances with complicated hand gestures, others with lots of lively footwork and fantastic choice of music all round! We all had different favourites but after careful consideration and discussion we are delighted to announce the results below:
